01 — THE HIGHER PITCH

Building Enterprise Content & Communication Systems

3 min read

The Challenge

Enterprise technology companies often have no shortage of expertise or information. The challenge is making that expertise coherent. Different teams have different priorities. Marketing speaks one language, sales another, leadership another. Thought leadership can become disconnected from business priorities, while content gets produced as individual assets rather than as part of a larger system. The opportunity was to bring those pieces together — creating communication that was strategically aligned, consistent, and useful across the business.

Consultant — Content & Communications

At The Higher Pitch, I worked at the intersection of content, communications, branding, and business strategy — helping enterprise technology brands turn complex ideas into narratives that leadership, customers, and markets could understand.

My work went beyond producing individual pieces of content. I helped build the thinking, messaging, systems, and content architecture behind how brands communicated.

The Approach

I worked with CXOs, founders, marketing leaders, and cross-functional teams to understand the business problem before defining the communication problem. That meant getting underneath the brief (understanding positioning, audiences, competitive context, business objectives, and what the brand actually needed to be known for). From there, I worked across:

Brand Messaging & Positioning
Clarifying the core argument a brand needed to make and translating it into messaging that could work across audiences and channels.

Executive Thought Leadership
Developing narratives and content around leadership perspectives, industry shifts, business challenges, and points of view — giving executives a stronger voice in the market.

Content Strategy & Systems
Creating frameworks that connected individual content pieces to larger marketing, sales, and thought-leadership objectives rather than treating them as isolated deliverables.

Whitepapers, Case Studies & Sales Enablement
Turning complex technology and business propositions into useful, persuasive content for customers, prospects, and sales teams.

Content Governance
Bringing greater structure and consistency to content creation, review, voice, and quality across multiple stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
Working across content, marketing, design, sales, and leadership to ensure the story remained consistent from strategy through execution.

The broader THP methodology itself emphasizes diagnosing the business and brand first, then designing and delivering integrated work aligned to business KPIs.

What I Took From It

Good communication starts much earlier than the words themselves.

Understand the business. Define the audience. Own a credible point of view. Then build every touchpoint to move that argument forward.

That’s where strategy becomes useful.
That’s where content does business work.

From content as isolated marketing assets, to content as a strategic business and communication function.
